SUMMARY:Sailm nan Daoine - Film Screening and Gaelic Psalm Singing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The striking new documentary\, Sailm nan Daoine welcomes audiences along on an intimate and heartfelt road trip which explores one of the most emotionally resonant and culturally significant musical traditions: Gaelic psalm singing. \nRob MacNeacail embarks on a road trip across Scotland and Ireland to explore the tradition of Gaelic psalm singing. An entertaining and heart-warming film about the power of community\, family and the resilience needed to keep a language alive. Rob also composes the soundtrack to the film\, incorporating melodies\, field recordings and musical encounters he makes along the way. The combination of harmonium\, whistle\, guitar and synthesised drones give the music a futuristic tone\, whilst being steeped in tradition. \nRob MacNeacail will lead a Gaelic Psalm Singing workshop after the film.

SUMMARY:The North (15) Preview Screening
DESCRIPTION:Bart Schrijver’s acclaimed drama follows former best friends and roommates Chris (Bart Harder) and Lluis (Carles Pulido)\, who meet up after a decade to hike Scotland’s West Highland Way and Cape Wrath Trail. \nShot entirely on the route of the walk\, and in chronological order\, The North is a beautiful ode to friendship and the healing power of nature. It’s not only a poignant and powerful drama\, but also perhaps the definitive hiking film\, allowing us to take in the stunning majesty of the Highlands shoulder-to-shoulder with Lluis and Chris as they reconnect with each other and with nature.

SUMMARY:Fires and Fascism (12A) plus Q&A
DESCRIPTION:FIRES AND FASCISM is a new 57-min documentary that shows the wildfires in Europe are more than just climate change and mismanagement. It links the growing wildfires of Europe with past fascism\, big business\, organised crime\, and the far right. It showcases how communities are engaging in direct action\, protest\, rewilding\, and suppressing the uncontrollable fires and the far right. \nThe experiences and actions of 25 people across Greece\, Italy\, Spain\, and Portugal feature\, ranging between scientists\, teachers\, artists\, gardeners\, engineers\, winemakers\, NGOs\, and authors. \nDr Pete Knapp\, the filmmaker\, has a background in air quality and shifted careers from academia to storytelling. The film aims to start the conversation on what we do about the rise of fascist attitudes. \nThere will be a Q&A after the film with Pete Knapp.
