Lockerbie Poetry Trail

Mon 26 January

Over the past year, Lockerbie Writers have been working with Lockerbie Arts Group, to create a poetry trail inspired by the culture, natural environment and history of Lockerbie.

We’ve interviewed a local celebrity, scoured the history books and strolled the countryside to bring you eight poems which have been posted in the windows of the following venues:

Thistleonian Antiques, Sport & Trophy Centre, Lockerbie Library, The Salvation Army, Flowerpot, Elegance and Lockerbie Pet Supplies.

And inside:

Lockerbie Railway Station.

Local historical poetry by George W. Kirk can also be read at Lockerbie Memorial Church Museum.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to Walk, Read and Connect as they follow the trail of poems from venue to venue. Next to each poem will be a poster listing the participating venues, directing readers to all the locations.

We hope you’ll enjoy reading them, and perhaps they’ll inspire you to write your own poem!

Lockerbie Arts Group supports and encourages the Arts in Lockerbie and the surrounding district.

Lockerbie Writers is a like-minded group of local creative writers. They meet at The Somerton Hotel, Lockerbie, on alternate Thursdays at 10.30 am where they share their work and provide supportive critique and motivation to improve their understanding of the craft of creative writing. For more information, visit our Facebook page (Lockerbie Writers) or go to our website: https://lockerbiewritersanthology.wordpress.com/

This initiative has been kindly sponsored by Lockerbie and District Community Council. Thank you to all the venues that have kindly agreed to host a poem.
